Reflection: Week 1
This week was our first week of senior project and we spent our time testing our maxes, making smoothies, working on our cookbook, and lots of planning for upcoming workouts. One thing we defiantly need to work on is making a plan on how we are going to do our maxes. We need to do this because we messed it up when we did it, and we went up in weight too fast. This made us get very tired very fast and that made it so we had a hard time finishing up the rest of the workout.
Now that we are not as sore and more rested we will start tomorrow off by retesting our maxes. We have also planned strength and cardio which is good that way we can get a mix of everything and not just strength. We have defiantly been able to see where we are with our strength compared to the fall and there is lots of room to improve. This week we have also learned a lot about nutrition. We all found that after a winter of not lifting that all of our weights were down and that the reps were a lot lower as well. Some of the things we tested were back squat, bench press, deadlifts, pullups, pushups, and deadlifts.
Today we were able to go on a quick hike before going to help the Eastern ski team which allowed us to help both the men and women with writing down their numbers and reps. This baseline testing helps people to see how far they have come since the last time we did the test which was in the fall. We choose to not do the test today because it was our only day off for today which we were all in need of. Today we worked for 6 hours which included the testing and also included us creating a workout for the upcoming week.
Our smoothie making this week was not very strong but we have really come up with some really good recipes for next week! This week we had some technical difficulties which made it so we were unable to make the smoothies. It was actually pretty funny because we would get all of the ingredients into the blender and then we would try to blend it and it wouldn't work. After a couple days of the happening, I started bringing my blender from home and we were finally able to make some really yummy smoothies. We have a really good lineup for our smoothies for this week and tomorrow we are going to make one with bananas, peanut butter, and chocolate protein powder.
We are all really excited to start next week with a bang with some high-intensity workout. I really want to do the sled pushes again even though it was miserable in the end it really paid off and I know that I can push myself even harder next time. For our hours so far with got 6 hours today, 3 hours yesterday, 3 hours Friday, 2 hours on Thursday, 4 hours on Wednesday, 3 hours on Tuesday, and 3 hours on Monday. That puts us at 24 hours for this week which is a good place to be in to finish up the senior project.
Sage, Well Done!
